Somethings fishy about the "marine" I'm dating?

They can live off base, they get a housing allowance from the Marine Corps, and most of the time they do dress in civilian clothes. They aren't suppose to come off base in their uniforms. For someone who is a Pvt and isn't married and has no children and is young, they probably won't allow them to live off base. It depends on multiple variables.
